Trying to Catch up~

Here are the pictures from POWERhouse. After we got home on Sunday night, I only had time to post pictures of the TTU visit. I had to wash clothes and pack all day Monday because we went to Indiana for Thanksgiving. I will post more about my Indiana trip next week.

Here is Computer Geek and Football Star playing the coveted Torpedo Ball. Torpedo Ball is the biggest thing at Camp Hickory Hills campground. All the kids young and old love playing it. It is the first thing everyone wants to do when they get there. It was the first thing our Youth Group went to do while waiting for time to check-in.

This is Ashley and Elizabeth waiting for service to start Saturday. Looks like they are having fun.

This is Masters Commission during Saturday night service. Let me tell you these are some very anointed and committed young people. Every drama they performed just blessed my soul! What they do for God is so POWERFUL!

This is Saturday night. Here are the Young People dedicating or rededicating their lives to be the "Promised Generation". What an awesome service that was!!! God was moving mightily!

After service Saturday night, Computer Geek played a game of chess with Fredrick from Masters Commission. Fredrick became very special to our family. The moment I saw him there was a drawing to him. Our spirits seemed to have a special connection. Sunday Morning he came to us and gave us his phone number. After his discipleship with Masters Commission, he does some internship. He told us to pray and he would pray but he felt like God wanted him to come and work with our church and teenagers.

We had a great time at POWERhouse. Can't wait for next year!

Until next time.....

Tennessee Tech Band

What fun we had today! Computer Geek was given 4 free tickets to the Tennessee Tech football game. We went to see Golden Eagle Marching Band. We had no idea until we sat down that we were sitting right behind the band. Let me tell you it was so exciting.

This is the Golden Eagle Mascot!

I have never seen a Marching Band make a pyramid before. College Marching Bands are much more fun in their performances than High School!! The band members seem to have a great time.

Here is Computer Geek enjoying the game and wearing his new TTU hat!
So it looks like Computer Geek will be joining the TTU Golden Eagle Marching Band next year. We were able to meet the Band Director, Mr. Hermann. Mr. Hermann seemed to be a very nice man. He told Computer Geek to email him and he would see what he could do to help him get a Band Scholarship!

Although at times, I hate the thoughts of Computer Geek leaving next year for college. There are those times like today that it is so exciting to watch him as he begins to write the new chapters in his life!!

Until next time....

PowerHouse

Tomorrow Big D and I are taking 4 of the teenagers from church to Powerhouse. Powerhouse is a weekend retreat for the Youth. It is held at the Tennessee State Camp Grounds, which is 2 hours from where we live. It is an awesome time for the Youth. They have a concert for them one night and a coffee house another night. Our teens at church love to go every year. As much as I love to go to be with them, I feel my age during this weekend. The girls love to keep me up giggling and doing what we girls love to do best, TALK! I just can't handling staying up all night long. I am afraid I am getting old.

Also during this weekend, Computer Geek was given 4 free tickets to come watch the Marching Band at TTU. He is considering joining the Marching Band at TTU next year. So Saturday we will sneak away from Powerhouse for a few hours and enjoy TTU football game and check out the GOLDEN EAGLES MARCHING BAND. I am sure I will be posting pictures of both events!!

Until next time.....

Left Behind: World at War

In the wake of a global catastrophe that saw millions of people vanish from Earth, a man named Nicolae Carpathia (Gordon Currie) steps forward to provide leadership via his New World Government. Although U.S. President Fitzhugh (Louis Gossett Jr.) supports him, others -- mostly born-again Christians -- believe he's the Antichrist. Is it too late for dogged Christian journalist Buck Williams (Kirk Cameron) to persuade Fitzhugh to join the fight?

My family and I watched the 3rd movie in the Left Behind Series "World at War". I was a little leary about watching the 3rd movie because I heard it wasn't that good. But I thought it was absolutely great! It was not nearly long enough for me personally. There was so much more they could have put in, but I understand time and money they can't put it all in. Just like the books it leaves you wanting more. If you have not read the Left Behind Series or watched the Left Behind movies, I highly recommend you do!

Until next time.....

Conspiracy of Kindness

It's November. So that means it is time for CBL classes (Center for Biblical Leadership). Big D and I went CBL classes tonight. Of course he doesn't actually need the credit hours like I do, but he enjoys going. The book this year is "Conspiracy of Kindness" by Steve Sjogren. Our instructor was Brother Winston Reid. Class was really good. Conspiracy of Kindness enables every Christian to become an effective evangelist by demonstrating with teaching, example and testimony how unassuming acts of kindness convince people of the love of God more persuasively than words. This book really excited me about evangelism because it offers suggestions of simple acts of service that I can do to show God's love to my family, and in my workplace and my community. If you would love to get some suggestions of how to do simple acts of services to show God's love, you need to read "Conspiracy of Kindness".

Until next time.....

Busy Weekend!

You would think I would get used to these busy weekends. With the boys finished with Band and Football, I thought my weekends would slow down some. Who was I kidding?? Myself, I guess. (Hee hee!)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Friday was our annual Turkey Dinner Fund Raiser at church. Tho, I didn't help this year, due to work. I did take time during my lunch break to go pick up a few dinners for our family dinner that night. Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, and dessert. Yummm!! The Ladies of the church raised $2,500 for our mortgage payment! PTL! The Church had some remodeling done in the summer. A new roof,a porch put on the porch of the Church, and some work done to our Heat/Air pump. So that $2,500 will sure take a nice little chunk out of the principle. God Bless the hard working Ladies at our church.
Computer Geek had a date that night with a cute little redhead named Katelyn. He took her to the movies and she chose Chicken Little. Ah, the price men pay sometimes when they let women choose! After the movie, they hung out at the local Sonic. Then when he took her home, her parents invited him in to watch a movie with them. Nice trick by the parents to get a better look at this guy that took out their daughter. I like their style! Computer Geek had a great time. From what he could tell Katelyn also had a great time. He plans to ask her out again soon.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Saturday was our annual Youth Chili Supper and Hayride. Of course, the entire Church was invited but the Youth Department sponsor it. We had a flag football game at 4pm. Then at 6pm was the Chili supper. We had 40+ people. Then when it was dark, we had our hayride. It was a PERFECT night for a Hayride. So perfect that the kids didn't want the Hayride to end and it was the LONGEST hayride in our church's history. I believe the hayride lasted 1 hour and 30 minutes. I don't think there was much of that little community we didn't see. We had such a wonderful time of fellowship!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sunday, the church honored our Pastor. He had to take a medical leave of absence due to some health problems. This week is his birthday. So we had a "This is your Life" type program and a Sunday dinner in honor of him. As he sat in the chair before the entire church, at times getting so embarrassed his face was red, then at times so emotional tears began to come to his eyes, I was so in prayer for him. Everyone giggling and laughing and here I sit crying out quietly to God in his behalf. Such a young man to be battling cancer in his throat. I told him not long ago, that I REFUSE to believe that God is finished with him. He is such an awesome, loving man of God! I have no doubt that when this trial is over for him that God will not only bless him but will also double the annointing in his ministry. My God is good like that! Please help me pray for him. If your church has a prayer list, please add him.
Until next time.....
Keep the Candle Burning
"A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle."
I read this quote a couple weeks ago and it has stuck with me since. Even as we lit the candles for the Jack-O-lanterns this Halloween, I felt I needed to post on this subject. This quote is so true even for our Spiritual life. We lose NOTHING by leading others to Jesus. Proverbs 20:27 says, "The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD" and Luke 1:79 says, " To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death". Our spirit is the candle of the Lord and we need to give light to them that sit in darkness. A candle that is lit doesn't go out when lighting another candle. Instead, have you noticed the flame even becomes higher and brighter?? No wonder the bible says "That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven." One candle in the darkness shines bright, but 2 or more shine even brighter making the path easier to see. Today, I have been reading a book written by our State Overseer, E.C. McKinley called "Pulling Them from the Fire". This book is filled with accounts that have happened in his Ministry where God used him to witness to those that were lost. Some of the people came to know Jesus within minutes of dying. How close these people came to eternity in Hell. Forever being separated from God. It has inspired me today. I want to be use my candle and light others to know Jesus. I want to pull those lost out of the fire. I have so many lost family that need Jesus in their life. My family has been raised to know Jesus. I am not only speaking my immediate family. I am speaking of my extended family (Aunt, Uncles, Cousins, etc.) also. I know they know, they know they know, but it takes more than knowing! They must receive Jesus into their life as Lord and Savior. I pray God uses me in a mighty way to lead not only my loving family but EVERYONE that does not know Him. If you are reading this and do not know Jesus as your personal Savior, I pray that God speaks to your heart. Nothing would thrill me than to know that by you reading my blog, I was "Pulling them from the Fire".
Until next time.....
I ain't afraid of no ghost! I've been "Ghosted"
I woke up this morning. Just doing my routine blog reading. Little did I know that I had been "Ghosted" by YellowRose's Garden. So I followed her instructions in my latest comment box.
Do I believe in ghost?? No!
Am I a Christian? 100%
Should Christians be involved in a little Halloween fun?? That is your opinion. I don't personally think a little Halloween fun is wrong. If you blog, beware you might be next to get "ghosted". Just remember to check your latest comment box!
The Funniest Video
Last night Computer Geek comes to me and says, "Mom, you just have to see this video clip I found". Usually that means it is something lame (well to me anyway) that I don't want to see. But this one made me laugh so hard that I had him play it 4-5 times for me. So I decided I wanted to share it with my daily blog readers. I tried to post it so it would play on here for you, but I could not find the html code. So you will have to CLICK HERE to watch it. After you watched it, come back and finish reading my post.
Have you watched the video clip??? Read on~
Isn't that the funniest video?? His buddies make him think they are in a car accident. I love how they whisper to the driver then count down to scream in unison. His face is priceless! Then at the end, he squeezes his hamburger because they had scared him to death! Made me laugh even harder. I can't help it but I absolutely love that video clip!
I am off to watch it again!
Until next time. . .
Out of the Mouths of Celebrities!
I had a friend email this to me today. I found it so interesting that I wanted to post about it this morning. So here it is:
With hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding and severe t-storms tearing up the country from one end to another, with the big quake in Pakistan, the quote of the month is from .....Jay Leno:
"Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?"
It is ABOUT time that people wake up and see what is going on around them. God is sending out warning signs of for the End Times. In Matthew 24:6 it says, "And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass...." (Also found in Mark 13:7 & Luke 21:9)
It can't be too much longer that Jesus comes back for His bride (the Church).
For someone like Jay Leno to actually say that means God is speaking to hearts. I can NOT express the joy and excitement I have when I hear thru the family grapevine that God is working within my own family. God promised my Mom that her household would be saved. God called her home before she could see the evidence of all her prayers, but I have had the pleasure of watching 1 by 1 accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
If you are one of my family members reading this and have not yet accepted Jesus into your heart, warning you are next!!
Ahhh. "Out of the mouths of Celebrities!"
Until next time.....
Googling My Life
I read this on YellowRose's Garden. It looked really fun so I thought I would google my life. Here is how you play. Go to Google and click on the images link. Type in the following and post the first (or your favorite) picture the search engine finds.
~ The name of the town where I grew up
~ The name of the town where I live now
~ My name
~ My Grandmother's Name
~ My favorite food
~ My Favorite Drink
~ My Favorite Song
~ My favorite smell
Well that was fun. I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I did searching it. Now you try it!
Happy Birthday Computer Geek!
Today is Computer Geek's 18th birthday. My heart and mind can NOT comprehend that he is 18 today. Doesn't seem possible that it has been 18 years since he was born. I know it was just yesterday that I nervously took him to his first day of kindergarten and I cried all the way home. Now today he is a man. Unreal. Not only is today special because it is his birthday but tonight is Senior Night at the Game. If you do not know what Senior Night is, it is where they honor the Seniors that are in Band, Football, and Cheerleading. So Big D and I will dress up in our "Sunday Best", walk down the 50 yard line with Computer Geek, in honor of his 4 years in Marching Band and all his accomplishments as a High School Student. What an emotional day for Mom! I will definitely have tissues in hand because I know I will cry as I am being escorted by my wonderful son! I am so blessed as a Mother!!
My prayer is that as a man, Computer Geek will keep God in the center of his life!
Until next time.....
God Bless~
*~P.S.~* Yes the boy's birthdays are only 5 days apart. Computer Geek also shares his birthday with Big D's Dad. (Happy Birthday Dad-in-law)
Happy Birthday Football Star
My baby turns 15 today! I can NOT believe it! As I think back today about that special day, at the time it was a day of a lot of fears and tears. Even tho he came into this world at a whopping 9 pounds and 13 ounces, he was 2 weeks early. I tried to tell the doctors that I knew he was due more toward the end of October. Oh but the ultra sound said I was wrong. See we had tried for a year to get pregnant with him. But stress had kept me from getting pregnant. When the doctors took him (c-section), his lungs were not fully developed yet. The nurses in the Neonatal nicknamed him "Eskimo baby" because here was this very olive skinned over 9 pound baby in the midst of all these 3-5 pound babies. It was a very scary time for us. We thought we were going to lose him. But God has a plan for his life. Most little ones raised in church know who Jesus is and will say they have them in their hearts. But with Football Star(FS) it goes a little deeper. At age 3, when sitting and discussing for the hundredth time where Paw-paw was (my father had just recently died). This discussion would be different. It would be a turning point in FS life. His little heart was broken and he wanted to make sure he would get to see Paw-paw in Heaven. So we said a very simple sinner's prayer that day. Not many can say at age 3 they became a Christian, but FS did. Now 12 years later, FS is nearly all grown up. Long gone are the days of dirty diapers and ninja turtles. He will soon be taking his driver's license test for his permit. Unreal how fast time goes. I could not ask for a better son. I am very blessed to be his mother. As he continues to grow, my prayer for him is to have a happy, wonderful life with Jesus at the center of it all.
Until next time....
God Bless~
Emotional Rollercoaster
Have you ever felt like your life was on an emotional rollercoaster? That is how mine has seemed since Tuesday.
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, I was in deep pray and worry about little Ashley not knowing what the outcome of her arrival would turn out to be.
Thursday was Football Star's game. His games always have me on the edge of my seat. Praying for his safety during the game. They lost their game. But once again God heard my prayers and kept him safe to play another game.
Friday morning, my sister called and said "we will have a baby by this afternoon". I felt like I was pacing in my prayers on her behalf. Then at 4pm on Friday my sister calls me with great news about baby Ashley. It was so hard to contain my excitement at the football game about what God had done. So here I am waiting for Computer Geek to go out on the field to march for the Red Raider Marching Band. All I wanted to do is run up to the announcer's microphone and let everyone one know how AWESOME my God is! His love for us is so unexplainable! I watch the band performed but don't ask me much about the varsity game!
Saturday was a very long and tiring Band Contest day in Nashville. And I didn't even march! But sitting almost 10 hours on those bleachers and in the hot sun. Sure can drain a spectator! I always get so nervous for the kids before they perform. They all work so hard. I hate to see one little mistake like the drop of a flag or a misstep ruin all that hard work. Last contest didn't go so well, but this time they would come in 1st in their class. Such an exciting time for us. I was still on a high from God's blessing over little Ashley! This just sent me over the top!
But Sunday would bring me back down to the realities of life. We had been so busy and not at home on Thursday thru Saturday. We could have missed out on something we would have regretted all our lives. But once again, our Heavenly Father looked down and knew our hearts and planned ahead for us. We so happened to have to go to Wal-mart before church because of a Potluck we were having. As we passed a funeral home, the name of our wonderful next door neighbor was there. Big D and I were both so shocked. We knew she was battle brain cancer but we didn't know she had took a turn for the worse. Thankful the visitation was Sunday and the funeral was today. Mrs. Meadows was a wonderful, giving lady. Even tho, we had some different religious views, I have no doubt that one day I will see her again in heaven. On the way to the funeral today, I had my Casting Crowns CD "Life Songs". The song "Life Songs" was playing. The thought came to me, What a wonderful "Life Song" Mrs. Meadows sung to those that knew her. Even her pastor said during the funeral, that the good Christian life she lived he didn't need to preach her funeral because she preached her own funeral. That is so true. If we live a good Christian life, we won't need someone over us when its our time trying to say all the good things we done because others will have seen what we done for the Lord. So may my "Life Song" sing as beautiful as this beloved neighbor and friend. May she forever be in our hearts.
Until next time.....
It's a Girl (Again)!!!!!
We have yet another new addition to our family. Ashley Ailene surprised us this week and decided to come 35 days early! She came into this world weighing 5 pounds and 18 inches long. That is a good size for coming so early. She is breathing on her own and doing so well. My sister has been doubly blessed this year. Two new grand-daughters almost exactly a month apart. I can not leave this post without giving praise to my Heavenly Father for Ashley. There wasn't many times when I prayed that she was not brought before the throne. My nephew and his wife lost 2 little ones early in pregnancy before getting pregnant with Ashley. When Chrissy got pregnant the 3rd time, we were all on pins and needles. God spoke to my heart and had my church pray for a prayer cloth for Ashley. Each month it was good news after good news. Ashley was growing! When I went to Indiana for a family reunion, God spoke to my heart again and instructed me to lay my hands on Chrissy belly and pray for her and Ashley. As I prayed, Ashley was moved. What an awesome experience for me! At that moment, I knew Ashley would be ok. Then to get a call that Chrissy was going in 35 days early. I came before the throne for Ashley yet again. So much could have been wrong, but my God had all things under control.
Here she is Princess Ashley Ailene(after my beloved Mother)
Welcome little Ashley into the family. I can't wait to see you!
Until next time.....
Lay Minister's License
Yesterday started out as usual kind of a sad day for me. Because I miss my mom so bad on her birthday. Don't get me wrong, I am rejoicing that she is in Heaven. But the human part of me still misses her and is sadden that I can't be with her at certain times in my life. Maybe it sounds selfish, but it sure isn't intended to be that way. I could have not asked for a better way to end what is usually an emotional day of reminiscing. Our Heavenly Father is so mindful of us. If we just keep our eyes open, He is always at work to bless His Children. Even in the little things I love to praise Him. I could have not asked for a better day than yesterday as the day to receive my Lay Minister's License. On the way to the football game, God spoke to my heart, "Did you realize that you got your minister's license on your Mom's birthday?" I began to weep as I realized what a special gift that was for me. Big D asked what was wrong because he saw a tear fall down my cheek. I shared with him that when I opened the envelope I had not even thought about receiving it on Mom's birthday. He just smiled so sweetly. All I could to was thank my Heavenly Father for such a wonderful gift on such a wonderful day. See, I was brought before our church in February for my Lay Minister's License. With so much going on and it getting lost at the State Headquarters, I had almost decided maybe it wasn't to be. But that was not the case at all, my Heavenly Father wanted it to be a special day to receive it. I want to continue to praise Him for the little things. I love Him so much and could NOT go thru this life without Him. Keep your eyes open for the little blessings that He bestows on you. You will be amazed!
Until next time.....
Happy Birthday Mom! I MISS you!
Today I woke up this morning with my Mom on my mind. September 23rd is her birthday. Words can NOT even express how awesome a lady she was. I would not even know where to begin. She touched so many lives. She had such a sweet, loving, humble spirit. When people needed prayer and wanted to see results, they came to Mom. She would ring those "prayer bells of Heaven" until the Lord answered. I had a dream of my Mom a couple of weeks ago. I hugged her in the dream. When I did, I could actually feel her. The warmth and softness of her body. I could smell her perfume. She leaned down and whispered such comforting words in my ear. I could HEAR those words audibly. It was so surreal. I have never had a dream like that in my life. It was so awesome that God would give me a few seconds with her like that. Call me crazy, but I know what I felt. I miss her so much. When I watch my sons grow and see their accomplishments, I am sadden that she can't be here to enjoy it. Would I call her back to this life if I could?? NO WAY! She is in paradise with Jesus. I would NEVER want her to come back to this world full of hurt and disappointments.
I was so blessed to be her daughter. Even tho I miss her sometime so bad it hurts (like today), I want to praise the Lord for giving me the opportunity to even know her in my life. He could have chosen for me a disfunctional mother. One that didn't know how to love or care for their child. But He chose for me a mother that taught me how to be a Godly mother. How to love my boys with every part of my heart and teach them the ways of the Lord. He blessed me with a mother that was not only my Mom, but she was my best friend. I encourage you today, if you are blessed enough to still have your mother, call her up and tell her how much you love her. One of these days she will be gone and you will wish that you had 1 more moment to spend with her.
Until next time.....
God Bless~
Urgent Prayer Needed!
Today my mind has been constantly on my Pastor. Actually there is not a day recently that I do not grieve for him. Pleading with God for a complete healing. See he found out a couple months ago, something that if God does not intervene could cause him to NEVER preach again. He was born with a condition at birth that causes weak vocal cords. Causing a raspy voice, but he never realized it would turn into the situation it has. The doctors told him that if he does not completely stop talking he will go mute when in a matter of a couple years. He has a couple blood vessels that are enlarged to the point that even a slight cough or sneeze could cause them to rupture. But that is not all, he has Cancer spots on his vocal cords. We praise God that it is not the kind of Cancer that spreads. It will stay localized. They put him on a pill form of chemotherapy. Sunday he had to go home during Sunday School because he became so sick. That has made it so surreal to me. I know what Chemo can do, even the slight form of it. I have seen at work. My heart cries for my Pastor today!
Sunday night I stood and shared my heart before I sang "Touching Him" by Ray Boltz. My question to the church was "Are we really doing all we can for our Pastor? You might have said a few prayers, but have you actually labored in prayer? Fasted any meals? It is our job as the Church to stand behind our Pastor in his time of need! Are we actually "Touching Him" for our Pastor?" I want to do all I can for my Pastor. He is a wonderful man of God. I could write pages of examples. But the best example is he has a loving, Pastors heart. He is also a very young man. He is in his mid 30s. He has so many years left to give to his calling. So many lives he could touch as he preaches the gospel.
Our Church is devastated because we do not want to lose our Pastor. But more over, I don't want to see an awesome man of God unable to do what his heart longs to do. Please put him on your daily prayer list. If God speaks to your heart to fast a few meals for him, please do. I know God will richly bless you for your obedience. I have faith that God will see him thru. I draw my strength today from the scripture in Psalms 37:25, it says "I have never seen the righteous forsaken."
Until next time.....
Awesome News!!!
We received some awesome news in the mail today. An envelope from Tennessee Tech University. I called Computer Geek into the kitchen. I told him I had his future in my hands. The look on his face as he realized it was a letter from TTU was priceless. I know a million things were going thru his mind. I know this because a million things were going thru MY mind. As Computer Geek nervously opened the letter, I watched in anticipation as he read the letter. I can not express the beam of light that was shining off his face when he read he had been ACCEPTED to the college of his dreams!! He gave me a big hug and all I could think about was I am about to lose my baby soon. I am so proud of him. He has always been such a joy to me every since the first day I held him. He has always excelled in everything he has done. As I watch him this year work toward closing a chapter in his life and preparing for a new chapter, all I can do is think about how much I love him and how proud that I was the one that was chosen to raise such a wonderful young man!
I love you Computer Geek with all my heart!
I am so VERY proud of you and all your
accomplishments!
Until next time.....
Houston, we have a problem!
Last night while working on a batch of documents for work, the computer just turns off on me. So I am thinking, "Oh some cord came unplugged." Well it wasn't "some cord" that had come unplugged. First, I yell for Computer Geek to come in and save the day. Which when it comes to the computer, he usually does come in and save the day! But there was NO getting the computer to turn back on. By this time, Big Daddy comes in from work and looks into the problem. Since it is still on warranty (Praise the Lord!), we thought it best not to let Computer Geek dig any deeper into the problem. I felt so sorry for Big D because after over 2 hours (20 minutes of it on hold waiting to even talk to someone) on the phone with someone that doesn't speak clear English, he finally got him to understand there was NO getting this computer turned on! No matter what he had him take apart or unplug and replug. It was not turning on. The man finally comes to the conclusion that it must be the motherboard. Just as the gentleman at Dell decides its time to write up a work order and have a tech come to the house and fix the computer, Big D gets disconnected! Here it is almost 10pm, way past Big D's bedtime (He gets up at 3am). We call back, but only had to wait 10 minutes this time. The entire time I am praying "Plllllllllease God let that person understand that the previous person was about to write up a work order for us and not make Big D have to go thru all that again." I am so thankfully that the Heavenly Father is so mindful of us and cares about the little things! He answered my prayer. The woman wrote up the work order for us and gave Big D the work order number for the tech to come out. But the bad news is He won't be able to come out until next week sometime. You wonder how I am posting on my blog without a computer. Well I was having some blogging withdrawals, so I snuck on Computer Geeks Hi-tech baby. Yes I know its sad I can't go 1 day without blogging. I need the 12 step program for blogging! Hi, My name is Lightseeker. I am a blog-oholic. I have went 12 hours without blogging. You might laugh, but I know a few that might just be in that class sitting right next to me!
Until next time.....
The Truth Seeker
This morning I finished reading "The Truth Seeker" by Dee Henderson.
Women are turning up dead. And Lisa O'Malley has a habit of walking into crime scenes, curious. She's a forensic pathologist and mysteries are her domain. Book number three in the O’Malley series brings back Lisa O’Malley and U.S. Marshal Quinn Diamond from The Guardian in a tense investigative thriller. She’s not a believer, and her journey toward faith is a fascinating look at how a forensic pathologist views the Resurrection. U.S. Marshal Quinn Diamond has found loving her is easier than keeping her safe. Lisa's found the killer, and now she's missing too…
When I first began this book, I was so afraid that I would not enjoy it. Only because I am not so hip about forensic pathology. Not my cup of tea. But I was greatly surprised. The way that Dee Henderson wrote this book made it very interesting. Even for those that don't like forensic type stories, you will enjoy this book. You never knew who was really going to be the murder. So many twist and turns in this book. I could not put the book down for the last 6 chapters! The ending might surprise you. I enjoy reading from time to time, but let me tell you I am HOOKED on the "O'Malley Series"! The one scripture from the Bible, Dee quoted in the book, that really spoke to my heart this morning was Psalm 18:19 "He brought me forth into a broad place, He delivered me, because He delighted in me." That is my prayer today. I want the Heavenly Father to delight in me and in my life. I highly recommend the O'Malley series. If you would like to read chapter 1 of "The Truth Seeker" go to the author's website, Dee Henderson.
Until next time.....
Bragging Rights!
I can not even began to explain in words how proud I am of our Football Star. Thursday Night was an away game. Big D was in Alabama on a business trip. We had almost decided not to go with gas prices being so high and Big D so far from home. But we worked it out and I met Big D at the hosting school. I am so glad we did or we would have missed out on a parent's dream. As we walked to the visitors stands, the smell of fresh popped popcorn and the excitement of another football game was in the air. As we waited for the game to start, Big D and I were sipping our usual Route 44 Sweet Tea (no lemon), talking about the rival team. The announcer began the welcoming speech, all the commercials, and the National Anthem was sung. Big D and I had no idea what surprise was in store for us. The announcer announced the representing captains of our team for the night. 78. Did he say 78?? Our Football Star's number! Big D looked at me "He is a captain?? When did this happen??"
Let me tell you everyone knew he was ours because they nearly had to tie us to the bench to keep us from floating away and our smiles were shining brighter than the sun in pride! I looked at Big D and said "ok we can go home now. I am so happy right now win or lose tonight!" Well I wished I could say we won, but we lost 38-8, but no matter Big D and I left there so proud. Not only was Football Star recognized as a captain tonight he also got about 5 tackles and a couple near misses. But our night of surprises wasn't over just yet. Each Thursday 4 freshman players are recognized for their hard work by earning a Varsity Jersey to play on Friday(mainly stand on the sidelines). Well here he comes with a jersey and a smile. He looked so good in that Varsity Jersey. He was number 77 Friday night.
We are so proud of him. I guess why we are so proud is because all this did not come easy for him. He has always wanted to play sports but was always too chubby to make the team. The beginning of this year he decided he wanted to change things. He started working out and lost 60-80 pounds. He works hard on getting good grades. Sometimes that can be a real struggle. Please keep him in your prayers the next 4 weeks as we try to get thru this football season and all the homework. Yes I know there are a lot of seemingly more important things going on in the world with the disaster of Katrina and the troops in Iraq, but to him this is important. So that makes it important to me. And I know it is important to the Heavenly Father. The bible tells us in Psalm 10:17 LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: and in Psalm 38:9 Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee. If we do our part, I believe God will give us the desires of our hearts. That is my prayer for Football Star today and the next few weeks.
Until next time.....
Easy Button
I don't know why God chooses to speak to me through commercials. This is twice now that He has chosen a commercial to speak to my spirit. Last time it was an "Oreo"commercial. Even as silly as it seems, I don't care where or what He uses to speak to me. I am just so glad He speaks to me! Amen?? Hey Moses had the burning bush, Balaam had a talking donkey, I guess I get commercials! Proverbs 16:16 says "How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!" Whatever you want Lord just keep speaking!
This morning it was the "Staples Easy Button" commercial.
Why as humans do we want everything the "Easy" way??? Why do we always look to hit that "easy button" when things get tough. It is through life lessons or even the hardest trials that we learn and become stronger. If we aren't blessed (yes I said blessed) with trials, how are we able to help others?? Those that have helped us make it through could not have helped, if they had not themselves just come through something similar. 1 Peter 1:7 says "That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:" Gold can not be a pure, shiny, beautiful metal until it has been thru the fire. The hotter the fire the purer the Gold.
On the other hand, if you do need an "Easy" button, God has already provided that for us. Jesus~! Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Or the way I would like to interpret this scripture this morning.
"Need an Easy button?? JESUS ...that was Easy."
Until next time.....
Saturday Night Pizza Party and Game Night
Tonight we had "Game Night" at the Youth House. The parsonage that our church owns isn't used by our Pastor. He owns his own home. So our church gave it to the Youth and Young Adults as a "Youth House". We use the basement as a "Game Room" for the teenagers. The top part of the house we use for Pizza Parties, Bible Studies, Lock-ins, etc.
Here is a picture of some of the graffiti Big Daddy and I did on the walls. The words we chose to put on the walls are all the different names of Jesus. Like "Savior", "Alpha and Omega", "Almighty" and so on.
This is our "Signature Wall". Down in the basement was a little nook about 6 foot by 10 foot. God gave me an idea to paint it black add a few black lights. We have beads hanging the the doorway of the "Signature Wall". Everyone that comes and visits our Game Room gets to sign the the "Signature Wall". When our State Overseer came to visit our church one Sunday night, we showed him our Game Room. He signed our Signature Wall. This picture doesn't capture how great it looks, but you get the idea.
This is our Pastor ready to "break", to start the game with Football Star. We have a Ping Pong Table, Darts, Basketball Shoot, a Playstation, and of course the Pool Table. We have a Air Hockey Table that Big Daddy is fixing that was given to use. We are also adding a Foosball Table this Fall.
The Teenager love having a place to call their own and we are so happy that God provided it. We are proud of our "Game Room". I feel so blessed that God lets me be part of something so wonderful.
Until next time.....
Life Songs
If you like the Contemporary Christian Music Group Casting Crowns, then you will really enjoy their new CD "Life Songs". I bought it today when Big D and I went out to have some alone time. I enjoyed all the songs, but there are a few very powerful songs. Great for dramas(human videos). I was a drama leader for over 3 year and when I hear songs so anointed as "Set Me Free" mark my word it will be a used by churches everywhere in their drama groups. The Song "Love Them Like Jesus" is another one of my favorites on this CD. "Father, Spirit, Jesus" is a great worship song for Worship Teams to learn. Casting Crowns definitely did NOT disappoint me with this CD!
Until next time.....
